I did not think I was being ignored. :) I thought maybe my email client was causing me some issues and not sending my emails out as my messages are not showing up in my inbox from the mailing list.
Welcome to GMail... it's a feature of GMail, not a problem on your end. GMail hides the mails you sent to the list. They are there... On to your problem... I've been thinking about it... and just had a thought based on some digging I've been doing... are you running the 32 bit install of 10.2 or the 64 bit? The reason I ask is that I've come across some forum postings about ATI and 3D not working, and a few mention exactly what you've described here (ie everything is installed and appears to be working right, but fails on 3D) as a "problem" on the 64 bit install, but on the exact same hardware using a 32 bit install, everything works perfectly. (example of the posting is here http://transgaming.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6729&highlight=ati+3d about half way... someone mentions the problem with Ubuntu 64 bit) I've got some other ideas....
