Perhaps you have a problem with your rpm database.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> rpm -qf /etc/localtime
timezone-2.5-25
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> cat /etc/SuSE-release
openSUSE 10.2 (X86-64)
VERSION = 10.2
