They *should* work. At least the even faster 8xxx work, and comparable 7600GT work, and I haven't read of 7800 not working. The only troublesome one was the 7300, and that worked after a driver update. Maybe your particular card is broken. Or doesn't like the mainboard (signal capacities etc).
