rpm works for all - those that don't use rpm can use alien to convert to deb or tarball. I've installed rpms on debian this way. Feel free to offer enhancement patches if rpm is not to your liking, but I find it quite workable, And there are tools which will automagically generate an rpm package for you, if you don't like getting into the details.
