Hi. I just installed openSuSE 10.2 and have run into a couple of problems. I
am working off of a dual boot Acer TravelMate 4060. I have had some
functionality using KNOPPIX and internet but cannot connect with this new
distro. I am also having problems setting up my printer (HP LaserJet 1000).
I understand that it is not supported, but I am wondering if there is a
workaround (compatible printer). YaST has detected it. But other than that,
I am at a complete loss.

Not sure what you're getting at with your network problems. "Cannot
connect" isn't enough information :-) Are you trying to connect via
ethernet, dialup, WiFi, bluetooth etc etc. What card/interface? Has
YAST ID-ed your device properly?

As for your HP Laserjet 1000... a quick Google brought me to
http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ which says that the 1000 is supported. Hmmm
according to the website there is an issue with the SUSE supplied
drivers - anyone else want to comment on that? It's possible that
this is why YAST finds your printer (the drivers are included in 10.2)
but it doesn't work (the unnamed problem mentioned on teh driver
website).

Anyway, the site gives fairly detailed instructions to install the drivers.

Does this help get you pointed in the right direction?
