Thanks! Let's hope there aren't too many spreading dependency issues.

And in that vein, I see that those packages require a version of APR 
(the Apache Portable Runtime) that is not a part of SuSE Linux 10.0.

The prerequisites are listed as:

- libapr-1.so.0
- libaprutil-1.so.0

Do you by any chance know where to find these?

(The installed APR package is "libapr0". I'm hoping based on these names 
that the two are compatible in the sense that they can both be 
simultaneously installed on a given system.)

More usefully (and in the long term less annoyingly), what resources do 
you use to find such things? Google is singularly unhelpful in this 
regard because a seach such as "Subversion 1.4 SuSE 10.0" yields almost 
entirely spurious hits. My only other resource is 
<http://rpm.pbone.net/>, where I was able to find some Subversion 1.3 
RPMs, but they did not provide the required interoperability with a 1.4 
repository (even though the Subversion folks say they'll alway maintain 
compatibility with clients one version behind the server).
