It doesn't matter, xine is clever enough to ignore the name or extension.
Notice that on a flash file that works, "file" says: "Macromedia Flash
Video". On this one, it says "Macromedia Flash data, version 6", which is
different. It might be informative to try the same with files from other
sites that do work and compare.
(You can get the file from the browser cache)
Fair enough. What if you force the encoder to treat it as mpeg2? I think
you can do that with -vf options.
I guess I'll have to try it myself :-)
