Hi, Can someone explain what is gconfd needed for? /opt/gnome/lib/GConf/2/gconfd-2 is running on my system, and I find such lines in my /var/log/messages:

Why? gconfd-2 is part of the gconf2 package, which is, according to its description: "This is the development version of GConf, the GNOME configuration database. It is used by the GNOME 2.x Desktop platform" I am NOT using gnome, but kde.
