Hi list,

I'm having some problems here getting the nVidia-driver to work.
The computer is an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ on an Asus M2V-Board with an
Leadtek Geforce 6200 running openSUSE 10.2 x86_64 fully patched.

There are mainly 2 problems with this machine:
a) it boots only with acpi=off. If started without noacpi, the system
hangs somewhere during boot. If I disable ACPI in BIOS, no Hard Disks
are found by grub.

b) I cannot use the nVidia-driver.

I installed the driver rpms from
ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/10.2/, but if I want to use it, X
fails to start.
"modprobe -v nvidia" throws the following error at me:
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.18.8-0.1-default/weak-updates/nvidia.ko
NVreg_DeviceFileUID=0 NVreg_DeviceFileGID=33 NVreg_DeviceFileMode=0660
FATAL: Error inserting nvidia
(/lib/modules/2.6.18.8-0.1-default/weak-updates/nvidia.ko): No such device

lspci shows this card as "02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia
Corporation NV44 [GeForce 6200 LE] (rev a1)"

Anyone an idea how to fix this? (especially b which is more annoying)

Thanks,
Chris
