Hi all,

Well now that my updater is working, I've downloaded and installed a
couple of hundred patches, but I can't find out how to control the
system.

I have three particular issues:

1) the system wants to update Java 1.5, which I'm fine with, but it's
trying to uninstall Java 1.6 before doing so. I'm not fine with that. I
want both versions available. I can't see how I might prevent it from
doing this.

2) It wants to update the xine-ui. I don't want it to. How can I stop
it from having the orange exclamation mark icon without accepting this
update? I'd like to have the orange warning appear when stuff I might
be interested in appears, rather than all the time.

3) It wants me to update python (noarch) and python-32bit (I'm on a
64bit machine). However, when I tell it to do so, it complains:

Python(noarch) produces:

Unresolved dependencies:
Installing patch:python-2446-0.noarch[SUSE-Linux-10.2-Updates]
atom:python-32bit-2.5-19.2.x86_64[SUSE-Linux-10.2-Updates] needed by

python-32bit-2.5-19.2.x86_64[SUSE-Linux-10.2-Updates] provides
python-32bit == 2.5-19.2, but it is uninstallable. Try installing it
on its own for more details.
There are no installable providers of python-32bit >= 2.5-19.2 for
atom:python-32bit-2.5-19.2.x86_64[SUSE-Linux-10.2-Updates]

and python-32bit produces:

Unresolved dependencies:
Updating python-32bit-2.5-19.x86_64[System packages] to
python-32bit-2.5-19.2.x86_64[SUSE-Linux-10.2-Updates]
Establishing atom:python-32bit-2.5-19.2.x86_64[SUSE-Linux-10.2-Updates]
There are no installable providers of libsqlite3.so.0 for
python-32bit-2.5-19.2.x86_64[SUSE-Linux-10.2-Updates]

My interpretation is that python noarch won't install without the
update to python-32bit, and that python-32bit wont install without
sqlite, but rpm -q reports that I have sqlite:

sqlite2-2.8.17-34

So, what gives?

Thanks all!
Cheers,
Simon
