Microsoft said that Vista would run with 512. eMachine recommended 1 Gig for my computer. Based on that, I figured an absolute minimum of 1.5 Gig to have anything like an acceptable level of performance. [ Not that I will ever know for sure. ] Seems like Microsoft lowballs the "required" memory numbers to sucker people in. 512 would probably have about the performance level of my old 8088XT with the turbo mode turned off.
