What happens if you try doing the same thing, but mounting it via

By default, smbfs is not enabled in 10.2.
The cifs mount is not causing the trouble (those figures are actually
ok, but that is a localhost connection).
The problems occurs on a FreeBSD workstation using SMBFS and on all
windows workstations i tried. Interestingly; the fileserver is also a
vmware server, and i tested in a Windows Vista VM, and there are no
problems (this is a localhost connection, sort of)!
So I'm a bit confused, this tells me the samba config is ok, so i should
look at nic driver/network hardware, etc. But i get good speeds using
ftp & http (full network speed), which tells me hardware/duplex
settings/nic driver are ok.
I checked log files(with loglevel 2) and watch traffic with tcpdump, at
first glance everything looks ok, but in all honesty i am not that
familiar with samba.
