Well you do it that way and you get a driver that somewhat works
but it may not be the correct driver to utilize all the capabilities
of the card.

If your card is supported by the closed source linux drivers from
ATI's site (see above url) then you can't complain about the
card till you do the install.

Yast will install something, but it may not be the best for your card.
