They are on a UPS, but it's an overloaded UPS (we're in the process of some serious hardware upgrades). One of them did have a bad NIC, but it was after I replaced the NIC that the problems started.
After some serious investigation last night, I found that some of the files in /etc/sysconfig/network got scrambled.
