Thanks Patrick... I used these same steps but did not have the switch
settings on sax2 correct... I did manually set the horz freq to the range of
the monitor 30-62 but without success. In fact sax2 itself would not even
start without the monitor complaining about the horz freq being off.
So, the -m 0=nv switches tell sax2 to use the nvidia module on card 0
(the
first detected card)?
Still my question persists... the installer can find the info it needs
by
probing somehow... There ought to be a command that a user can run sudo that
will probe the settings and at least make a recommendation for xorg without
risking the hardware and without any fuss... just like the installer does.
Maybe the better question to ask is... how is the installer determining
by
exact video setup (card and monitor) without asking question one.?
