I've been ripping my CD's with KAudioCreator into flac files. The
default location is /home/me/flac. Does anyone know how to change this
directory? I've probably missed something simple, but cant find the
setting.

Configure -> Encoder -> Wizard

Hi Dave,

I had seen that, but it is filled with encoding and header variables,
not file directory.

Hi Jim,

I probably should have said "Configure -> Encoder -> Location"
Mine reads (ignore email wrapping):

~/Music/%{extension}/%{albumartist}/%{albumtitle}/%{artist} - %{number}
- %{title}.%{extension}

Which translates to /home/dave/Music/<path-to-the-file-location> Each
forward slash "/" represents another sub-directory down from your
home "~" directory. Everything after the last forward slash are the
variables %{} for the filename structure.

Here's a silly example of how I could change the path from /home to /etc

/etc/Music/%{extension}/%{albumartist}/%{albumtitle}/%{artist} -
%{number} - %{title}.%{extension}

Hope this helps.

Dave

Ahh! That explains it! The location shows not only where to put the file, but how to write the tags. Cool. Thanks. It is easier to read here in an email vs. the little window KAC provides you. This is good info, thanks.

Another poster suggested I use K3B instead of KAC, and it is faster as it is set up to rip and encode at the same time. But I like the way KAC handles the tags, seems to be more logical to me. I guess it could play around with editing the tags in k3b, but I'm too eager to get my music encoded. I think I'll stay with KAC for now.

Thanks again,

Jim F
