There are other directories. In my setup, there were .berylrc, .emerald. That is the reason I say a clean user.
When you are using the snapshot, most bets are off. You need to install the stable version first, and exactly which version are you using? Also your fps rate seems to me a tuch slow. Unfortunately, most of my experience is with gnome.
