To me, there's only one player in teh laptop market...IBM Thinkpad's
hands down. If not just for their linux compatibility, for their
design and durability. Until any other laptop vendor out there has
titanium hinges from teh base to the lcd, and can flatten out
completely, I personally would look no other way. ESPECIALLY if you
have kids whom may be around while it's on your lap. I've had my
daughter come in front of me and pull down on my screen, and i had no
concern whatsoever. If it was a dell, hp, mac, or any other vendor
really for that matter, it would have snapped. Also, if your ever in
your car or anything like that while ur lappy is on, I can sit a
thinkpad on my steering wheel, and position my screen upright. Yet
again, any other model's screen would most likely be positioned chest
level.

Like I said, it may just be personal preference, but just teh screen
alone sells me on them. I've had a T40, and on a T42 now for a couple
of years running Gentoo only. Never booted to anything but on either
one actually. Been drooling over the Z61T for some time also. Of
course like you mentioned, the X series are incredible as well, but i
like the idea of the cd/dvd rom being in the chasis over the docking
station. Something about a little 12inch screen with a weight of only
3lbs is quite appealing though! =D

Good Luck with your hunt!!!!!

Hello, i've decided to buy a new laptop.
I'm looking for a small lightweight 12,1'' laptop based on a new Intel
santa-rosa platform.
I have 5 models.
Acer TM6292
HP 2510p
HP 2710p
IBM x61
IBM x61 Tablet

The most important is linux compatibility which have HP (it certified
to run SLED10) but its processor has poor performance (Intel ULV
1.02GHz)

Acer is a best choice but it does not compatible with Linux and its
weight is aprox 2.0Kg.
Im afraid that my Wireless and bluetooth buttons will not work

IBM did'nt have internal DVD (only through dock station)

any comments?
