I just checked the Epson printers available in "localhost:631" from the browser and I do show the Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer as a selection in the list. I am also using a newer build of Gutenprint than you seem to have for your SuSE. I have 5.1.3, so you might want to see if there is an update hidden away somewhere in the mirrors. It may just be that it came available after the original 5.0 release.
