S.M.A.R.T. is in the smartmontoools RPM. It uses an industry standard system to do low level disk device monitoring, I personally do not use raid but for software raid I would expect to have some physical dev definitions with which to do the monitoring, I am replying to you and list as I would hope that someone can give some practical pointers to deploying this in the software RAID scenario.
