Hmm, I would say that you have no access to BIOS, and no boot menu so that you 
can select second drive to boot from, which would be the clean solution. 

The USB should be the same story as a floppy. 
Insert USB stick and see what device it is, and then run grub-install with 
that device instead of /dev/floppy, but backup data on USB stick before 
grub-install, just in case.
