This is to demonstrate, that I know how to top post ;-)) The issue with top posts is this: I am reading this list as a newsgroup and use a threaded view of the messages that arrive to overview any given issue.
Now, when someone uses top-posting, it is very hard for me, to properly follow the discussion thread and possibly offer some help to solve the problem. Honestly, most often I simply do not reply to top posts, because I find to troublesome to collect what has been said before and how said what... However when someone new to the list does not know about the disadvantages of top-posting, I offer my advice and kindly ask not to do it. Furthermore I think it is good for a newbie to know how to properly use Linux. For me, avoiding top posting is a sure way to get more answers from the list. If you call that cop behavior, I am happy to be a cop and there are other cops around, too: http://catb.org/jargon/html/T/top-post.html I am also happy that I had something to add to the discussion of the actual problem. ;-)))) regards Eberhard Stevens wrote: > On Wednesday 05 September 2007 14:06, Eberhard Roloff wrote: >> Hi please stop top posting.
