The initrd modules are actually for the kernel to handle the file
system.  To boot, grub needs to be able to read it, and a look at
/boot/grub in 10.2 reveals there is an xfs_stage1_5 file, which gives
grub the ability AFAIK to read xfs partitions to boot from.  At least,
that is my understanding.
