Also, it requires BIOS support as I understand it.

I have a 6-month old Dell with Intel Dual Core.  I think the cpu has
VT support, but the bios does not, so no VT here.  (I installed vmware
server (xp) on it last Friday.  So far that is looking good, but I'm
just getting the most recent M$ updates.  Can't speak to performance
yet, but it does feel slow.)
