You can change your network method from using KNetworkManager to the 
Traditional ifup. It seems to be a problem with the ipw3945 driver, and hand 
shaking between the AP and Network Manager

I have the same card, and mine works by using the killswitch to turn off, then 
turn the card back on. Hopefully this gets fixed shortly in the driver.
