Since this is one of those one-time settings, I may have previously done it there and forgotten about it. However, trying your method, I'm discovering the same crash problem I mentioned below about downloads. As soon as I click Preferences, Firefox hangs/crashes on me again, just like when I attempt to download files. So, I guess I can't try your method right now.
