Does anyone know if s2ram that comes with openSUSE 10.3 will work with an APM based machine?

I'm not sure what this means, but when running s2ram, I get the following:

/usr/sbin/s2ram -f -a 1
Switching from vt7 to vt1
s2ram_do: Operation not permitted
switching back to vt7

Does anyone know what this means? This Dell Dimension 4100 is not ACPI capable, but I don't know if that has anything to do with the s2ram problem.

TIA
