How did you try to start enlightenment? If you're using kdm you have to adapt
the desktop file which is used by kdm:
- open /opt/kde3/share/apps/kdm/sessions/enlightenment.desktop
- replace "Exec=enlightenment" with "Exec=enlightenment_start"
(you can do the same with "TryExec")

Now it should start without any problems.
