        Wendell, see my latest post: "ATI 8.4.2.3 Driver Bug? was [Re:
[opensuse] Compiz Update on XGL Build Service 6.0]" For some reason, at
least on my Toshiba P35 with the "ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series"
card, I am having fits with the driver.

        However, my video playback does work fine. I just through in one of my
kids Harry Potter dvds and playback is great in Kaffeine.
