Listmates,

        For some reason compiz does not fully start when logging in.
http://en.opensuse.org/Compiz-Fusion says:

"Note: Compiz is enabled by default if you installed compiz-manager
package. Do not set up any other autostart scripts."

        When logging in, nothing works until "fusion-icon" is run. Nothing
works means (no keyboard, no window decor, and only one big fat desktop
icon in the middle of the taskbar). running fusion-icon seems to start
compiz and the compiz-splash soon appears and thereafter the desktop is
fine.

        Looking at compiz-manager, is there anything that should be in:

# For Xgl LD_PRELOAD
LIBGL_NVIDIA=""
LIBGL_FGLRX=""

        Additionally, this looks to be a huge problem:

# blacklist based on the pci ids
# See http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/Hardware/Blacklist for details
T="   1002:5954 1002:5854 1002:5955" # ati rs480
T="$T 1002:4153" # ATI Rv350

compiz-manager "blacklists" the ATI Rv350, which is the exact same
incorrect driver sax2 selected for my ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700
Series card. See related post: "[opensuse] Yast/Sax2 Bug - ATI MOBILITY
RADEON 9600/9700 Series". Why is this blacklisted here?

        I have added fglrx to the WHITELIST and set INDIRECT="yes". Even though
compiz-manager calls fusion-icon, it does not look like it ever actually
gets called. That is what is strange about having to run fusion-icon
manually. Does anyone have any other thoughts on how to make compiz
start at login and start correctly?

        Other than these small problem, the desktop looks absolutely fantastic.
Great job suse-compiz.
