I noticed similar behavior in k3b running in Suse 10.1 (AMD 64) after a
recent update of k3b.
Were you watching the whole process? This only happens on my system when
I am not present at the time the CD tray opens.
Without waiting very long (maybe 10 -15 seconds) the CD reloads, and
k3b tries to re-run the project, resulting in error messages.
I've been too busy of late to pay much attention to it.
