As I said, I have tried that again. It still doesn't work.
I have noticed another difference with the nvidia drivers though. The
font in Thunderbird and Konqueror seems much smaller than it did running
at 1024x768 with the integrated graphics. I am getting ready to run the
sys. set that way again, to grab the xorg.conf file it produces.
I'll check the appearance then to make sure it's not just my eyes
getting tired.
