Ted, Under ccsm -> Desktop Cube -> Actions -> General -> Unfold is probably set to <Ctrl><Alt>Down. That is what you are seeing. As for images on the bottom do you have the "Cube Caps" Plugin enabled? Those will give you the configurable caps, and I am sure someone in there you can set <Ctrl><Alt>Up / Down to flip to the top and bottom of the cubes.
