Hi,
Yesterday I installed opensuse 10.3 w/KDE. I am loving it. I do have some
areas that I don't have configured correctly, and and hoping for some
direction. Today I am concentrating on the issue of
lirc.

I have a Phillips ehome remote, branded as the Media Center Edition
(mce_usb2). I have spent some time looking at the lirc webpage and various
other places, but I'm stumped.

Basically, my remote doesn't work. I can point it at the receiver and an led
will light up in response, but it won't work otherwise. (I've tried to get it
to open kdetv, but it doesn't work) I've gathered as much
information as I could find, but I won't be surprised if it's not enough.

During the initial setup and configuration, I went into the expert settings of
my video capture card. After finishing that page, it asked if I wanted to use
my sound card for the video output, took me to a page for that, and then took
me to a page that asked if I wanted to enable IR, which I answered yes.

It asked if I wanted to install lirc, and I said yes, and then it when through
its process without any interaction from me. When that finished, a button was
visible that said 'test.' I clicked on that button, and a small window opened
with a message that said to test the remote. I pressed all of the buttons on
the remote, but nothing appeared in the window. No opportunity was given to
make any configuration changes, except, on the page that was visible behind
the test window, there was a drop-down box with two choices, something like
ir-kbd (default) and ir-gpio (only other choice). I switched to ir-gpio and
pressed the test button again, but I got a message that lirc couldn't be
started. Details said that lirc hadn't been configured for gpio.

Various log information that i found in the Yast system:
