Somehow OpenSuse 10.3 is the first distro i see has managed to cripple VLC:
"No suitable decoder module for format:
VLC probably does not support the "DX50" audio or video format.
Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."

Avidemux is the only player i know with frame by frame playback option.
