I'm betting all works fine if you log in as root? Have you checked your system.log (/var/log/messages) for any resmgr errors? Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dear Carl: Thanks for your response. I tried logging in as root, but that didn't solve the problem. I have found some resmgr errors in the /var/log/messages file. That file is quite lengthy, so I hesitate to just tack the whole thing onto this e-mail, but I would like to paste some portions below: Nov 16 20:11:34 linux-57vy kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 5 for device 0000:01:05.0 Nov 16 20:11:34 linux-57vy kernel: PCI: Sharing IRQ 5 with 0000:00:1f.3 Nov 16 20:11:34 linux-57vy kernel: Maestro3: probe of 0000:01:05.0 failed with error -2 Nov 16 20:11:34 linux-57vy firmware.sh[5683]: Cannot find firmware file 'ess/maestro3_assp_kernel.fw' Nov 16 20:11:34 linux-57vy hal-resmgr: resmgr: unable to connect to resmgrd: No such file or directory Nov 20 16:27:49 linux-57vy kernel: pnp: Device 00:04 disabled.
