The make scenario explained in the suse documentation, doesn't need it at all, and therefore, it is not even mentioned in the whole file: install the rpm, cloneconfig, menuconfig/xconfig/config, then make, etc. Nowhere are multiple build directories, trees, etc. People using those complexities usually know what they need.
