I'd have thought you would remember installing a kernel update via YaST Online Update since YOU is launched manually and selected updates are displayed in advance and the update in question incorporates a pop-up dialogue warning that the system should be rebooted afterwards. In any case, you wrote "the device map looks OK etc. etc." but I think you'll want to take a second and much closer look... particularly at /boot/grub/menu.lst. Starting with 10.2 and especially in cases where YaST2 encounters multiple hard drives and/or operating systems and/or a system with more than just a 'typical' number (or arrangement) of partitions, it has a tendency to write a broken menu.lst. Feel free to send me your device.map and menu.lst directly if you want some help sanity checking them. regards, Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
