Have you looked in ..

/usr/share/eclipse/plugins

and checked whether the required jar exists...

I do remember this kind of thing happening when for some reason the path
to the various eclipse directories got mislaid. But at the moment cannot
remember how I patched it...(it was a long time ago and it was probably
2 not 3 and things have changed since then).

A file that might be worth checking if the jars exist is...

/usr/share/eclipse/configuration/config.ini
