I just did a fresh install of 10.3 (32 bit).

I was using 10.2 (32 bit) and had no problem with the on board sound.

Now, I get the boot messsage (/var/log):

<6>ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:11.5[C] -> GSI 22 (level, low) -> IRQ 21
<7>PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:11.5 to 64
<3>ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:581: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0xfe0000]
<3>ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:581: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0xfe0000]
<3>ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:581: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0xfe0000]
<3>ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:581: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0xfe0000]
<5>scsi 7:0:0:0: Direct-Access     ST340063 3A               3.AA PQ: 0 ANSI: 0

/proc/asound has all files being size 0.

The motherboard is a k8v SE Deluxe.

Yast shows the driver as AD1980 codec.

All the volume levels are maxed out in YAST.

Kmix crashes.
ALSA gui comes up but not all of the adjustments react when I try to make
changes.

Any suggestions as to what I should check next?

Thanx

Michael
