This is being discussed as bugzilla 342703, but you should also try
getting the particular patch to be merged upstream, or possibly, if it's
additional drivers, at least be made available as "Kernel Module
Packages" (KMP) by the provider, maybe via the Build Service. Then
updates would be quite a bit easier for you.
