WD is including some file sharing software targeting personal users
and vary small companies on some of their external drives.

The software is smart enough to recognize media files.  If it is a
media file, then it won't share it to the entire Internet without a
login.  (Local IPs yes).  I think you can have a login/password that
allows anyone in the world to download the files, but they have to
login first.

Not really a big deal I don't think.  And the basic disk drive /
firmware does not have any of the intelligence, it is just an addon
app.
