So you're not getting a connection at all on 5901? Do you have wireshark 
installed? What VNC client are you using to connect? Have you enabled/disable 
encryption at both ends of the link?

Have you looked at the settings in Yast -> Network Services -> Remote 
Administration (vnc)?

Have you tried connecting to port 5801 using a web browser (with Java)?

Sorry to be asking so many questions - just going through the list of things 
that I can think of that could contribute to the problem...
