Does the "NO_HZ" option not work on x86_64?
Yes, It's currently not supported on x86_64. Even on i386 it does have
some problems AFAIK.

Thanks....I've been using it on ia32 on 3 different hardware setups
and no problems -- but none of them are laptops, and none of them have
CPU Frequency scaling (which I vaguely remember reading about a
problem with variable cpu frequencies and the 'on-demand' scheduling
algorithm.
I was surprised when I switched the one 'Core Duo'-based
computer to an x86_64 based kernel and had the int count in the stock
suse kernel jump by more than 1000% (10x).
Perhaps I'm naive, but since it is the exact same hardware,
it doesn't seem like it should be *too* difficult to get working.
But hey...the way things are done in kernel land, one never knows...
