Carlos, kpowersave has suspend to disk and hibernate options, which are
for laptops (at least my desktop does not suspend or hibernate)
It also controls the frequency of the CPU and other things.
I don't have a laptop and I use it.
However, you said you just uninstalled the whole of kde, so the point is
moot.
