Please clarify what you mean by "got this message," especially since you 
say the machine is "Linux (only)."

Are you talking about a phishing attack of some sort?

Viewing <http://www.updatew.org/> is ... humorous, to be sure. 
Apparently after "exhaustively" searching my system (for about 15 
seconds), I was warned about three extreme threats to my physical, 
emotional and technological health. (Plus, I assume, my hair could fall 
out.)

Run what?

If you click the "warning" window displayed after the "security scan", 
you see a "shopping cart" display listing your $19.95 purchase of 
life-saving software (using the European convention of using the comma 
for the decimal point).

"Proceed[ing] to checkout" shows you a window in which you may enter 
your credit card number.


Just your everyday phishing scam. A trap for those foolish enough to 
spring it.
