I have such a setup right now.
LDAP to authenticate users in my mixed windows/linux network.
Samba as PDC to fool Win into a domain, and NFS shares for Linux /home
I just followed the guidelines outlined on Novlles pages.

http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/17319.html
is a start for the Samba part for instance.

Yast provides very nice modules for LDAP, NFS and Samba, so start out by
exploring some papers from Novell and search google , and use the mailing
lists for the blanks you might draw.. Thats how i did it.
