I agree that the history is crucial I have just been working on going from WebWork 1.2.1 to 1.3, and having access to the CVS history was essential in helping spot "new features" that have been introduced.
Tracy's idea would work, my CVS isn't brilliant, but I am sure that a guru could write a script to automate this.
