It is interesting that this would make the WW2 architecture very similar to
Apache Axis's Handler Chain approach.

It has almost moved away from being an 'interceptor' for a method.  Axis
defines a 'Pivot' handler which is where the message (action invocation) is
turned around and goes back up the chain again.
