To me 'beta' indicates a fairly stable API (not 3 times major API changes), but with bugfixes and improvements along the way (eg. Hibernate). OTOH alpha quality software can be ripped apart.
PS Patrick, is your book up to date with these new changes in WW2? Does it contain <ww:textfield label="'Single Quotes Extra'" name="blah"/> ?
